On October 15, 1997 a Yemeni killed seven people in northern Yemen after a man cut his son's throat. The 9-year-old boy had blinded a cow by throwing a stone at its eye, and the owner of the animal had vowed to kill him for this, but after mediation by the other tribesmen agreed to only frighten him by holding a dagger under his chin. However, he changed his mind and killed the boy in front of the mediators and his father, wherupon the latter opened fire with a rifle at the people around him, fatally hitting the murderer of his son and six others.[1][2][3][4][5]
