Antonio Alvarez was a Mexican who killed his wife and eight children in their sleep with an axe in Puebla, Mexico on December 1, 1923. Alvarez, who was afraid, because a fortune teller had predicted that the area would be destroyed on January 21, 1924 by an earthquake which was supposed to be more devastating than the Great Kanto earthquake, wrote a note explaining his motive and afterwards committed suicide.[1][2][3]
