Breta was a Buginese who killed at least nine people and wounded at least two others at a village in Bawean, Dutch East Indies on November 25, 1885.[1][2][3]

That night, at about 2 a.m., he killed his sleeping wife by stabbing her 24 times with a kris, apparently out of jealousy. He also killed a neighbour when she rushed to the scene, as well as his second wife, and then attacked a group of people pounding rice, killing two women and a man. Afterwards, while being chased through the village, he stabbed several other people, three of them fatally, and then surrendered.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
