On February 4, 1974 a Nigerian farmer killed nine people and wounded seven others at a village near Calabar, Nigeria.

That morning the man armed himself with a hatchet, attacked a woman in a house, and then turned against her neighbours, when they rushed into the building, alerted by her screams. The perpetrator afterwards escaped and was sought by police.[1][2]
