Dhaneswar Ratia was an Indian tea worker who killed his mother, wife, two sons, and two daughters with an axe at the Namgaon Tea Estate in Sonitpur district, India on January 13, 2000. Ratia, who committed the murders after he was told by friends that his wife was a witch who spread killer diseases on the estate, afterwards set his house on fire and attempted suicide by striking his head with the axe when police arrived.
