Michael Bawa was a Nigerian soldier who killed seven people at the Kawo motor park in Kaduna, Nigeria on November 11, 2001.[1]

Bawa, a member of the 1st Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army, was dispatched with other soldiers to open-air muslim prayers in Kawo motor park to disperse the illegal gathering. Bawa ordered the Imam to stop preaching, who ignored him and continued. After an argument corporal Bawa opened fire, killing Muslim preacher and six others. He, a Christian, was apparently drunk.[2]

Trial started on December 12, before military tribunal, denied charges.[3][4] On July 15, 2002 he was sentenced to death.[5][6]
