On February 19, 1968 a young man wounded 16 women in the North End of Montreal, Canada. The 18-year-old, who approached his victims from behind, slashed them on the legs with a pen knife with a two-inch blade, and than ran away, made his first attack around noon, with others following quickly thereafter. Within three hours he injured a total of 16 women, aged between 18 and 22 years, none of them seriously. When the scale of the incident became apparent 20 police cars were dispatched to the scene, and around 3 p.m. the knifeman was eventually spotted by two officers, and taken into custody without further ado.[1][2][3][4][5]
