The 28-year-old Iban, who was from Sarawak and worked at a palm estate in the Klagan area, stabbed his victims, mostly farmers, in their sleep, instantly killing three men, three women, and three children. Two of the nine people he wounded died on their way to hospital, while three others succumbed to their injuries at Kent Hospital in Sandakan.
