Saroj Bala was an Indian woman who killed her six children in the Pannapur area of Hapur, India on April 10, 2002.

Bala's husband, a truck driver, was severly indebted, and apparently she was despondent about her poverty and her ill health. On the aforementioned day she laced food with pesticide and fed it to her six children, who were 3 to 14 years old. Afterwards the 35-year-old woman wrote a suicide note in which she blamed herself for the tragedy and then committed suicide by poisoning herself.[1]

Among those killed were:

  • Dolly Bala, 14
  • Jyoti Bala, 10
  • Sanjeev Bala, 9
  • Unnamed boy, 3
  • Two other children
