Sprottau familicide
Date June 12, 1597
Location(s) Sprottau, Holy Roman Empire
Target(s) Family
Killed 7

On June 12, 1597 a German miller killed his wife and six children in Sprottau, Holy Roman Empire. He was arrested and executed.[1][2][3]

There are apparently several popular prints reporting about the crime, at least one of which states that it was committed on March 12, and not June 12, though all of them seem to have in common that they are based on a print published by a Martin Wollenstein in Liegnitz.
